I don't think marketing strategies should be elaborate either.

This is my content marketing strategy:

Upload content people find valuable, and do MORE of it.

How do I know if something is valuable?

What problems does your ideal customer face?

Think of the person on the other side.

Who are they? What do they desire? What is there current situation?

Once we get a clearer picture of WHO is our ideal customer, we can cater the messaging content exactly for THEM.

As a framework, your younger selves are the best target.

We know his fears. His experiences. His desires.

It's easier to provide value to something we already know.
