How I Create Better Content For Small Business
When I worked for an advertising agency and a physiotherapist's marketing, this is how I create more engaging content.
I use Alex Hormozi's 3 Step Process: Hook, Retain, Reward
Step 1: Hook The Audience In
You have to interrupt your viewer by hooking them. That way they consume the rest of the content.
Especially for small businesses, I try to include the name of the region you serve. For example, if people from Townsville hear:
"3 Ways How We Help Townsville Residents With Chronic Pain"
They're more likely to continue consuming because the content is tailored just for them. Making the content more relevant to them.
Step 2: Retain The Consumer
Hormozi says there are only three things that retain an audience:
- Lists
- Steps
- Stories
These capitalise on CURIOSITY. The audience wants to know what happens next.
Step 3: Reward Their Attention
Essentially, you want to satisfy the audience's curiosity from the unanswered questions from your hook.
For example, if you said,
"3 Ways We Help Residents Fix Their Plumbing"
And you're an electrician and you only list two ways:
- You've underdelivered on your promises
- To the WRONG audience
So whenever I make content I make sure it's:
- Delivered on the promises from the hook
- To the RIGHT audience
Ultimately, make sure the content helps the audience by being actually valuable.
