A Simple Productivity Hack (That Doesn't Involve Morning Routines)

Wanna get the most out of your mornings?

Feeling like you need to do a morning ritual to get your day started?

Because, for the past few months, I've been saying to myself,

"I'm going to wake up. Do my work out straight away, and then work on my projects."

However, I would just stay up late, wake up late, and I had work the next half an hour.

Until...

I took Alex Hormozi's advice:

Wake up early and get straight to work.

(Preferably, when the sun hasn't risen yet.)

The immediate benefits I'm seeing is having more energy to produce articles and videos. Though I'm a bit groggy in the first 20 minutes of waking up from my alarm.

This wake up time, it's 5AM for me, is forcing me to get to bed earlier, which I look forward to now.

Before, I would spend an extra hour just watching YouTube videos.

But, because I've got something to look forward to when I first wake up in the morning, I'm actually looking forward to go to bed.

Rather than feeling like I'm forcing myself or doing it out of discipline.

Also, the added benefit of waking up early is the rest of the house are asleep.

I can do a lot of work uninterrupted.

As much as their is benefits to walking, taking an ice bath, exercising, journalling, it comes down to a simple truth:

The work needs to be done.

If we can reduce the time it takes to go from waking to working, you will get more tasks done with more time.

You don't need a set of specific actions to set yourself up for the day.

I'll say now, if you want to do any of the morning ritual stuff, not out of pure discipline, then go for it.

Because, I used to fall into the trap of thinking, "I need to perfectly start my day productively."

And, if I try to optimise rather than getting stuck into my work, I'm going to be drained from forming new habits and being disciplined.

At the moment, I'm taking the approach, I'll then do the stuff that would be considered 'a morning routine' after I've done my 1-2 hours of work.

For people that have a job, during the day like myself, you'll have done the most productive work at the very start of the day.

And, you do not have to worry or think the job that is helping you earn an income is stopping you from being productive.

But, I've been only doing it for a week and happy to keep forming it as a habit.

So, if you want more focus, energy and uninterrupted time towards your work, try it out, let me know how it goes for you.
